Description With more than 35 years of experience as an active slot car racer I know this is one of the most useful tools you can get to build a high performance motor. I'm an engineer and I've designed this meter to work with ceramic and cobalt magnets. In the pictures you can see how a reading is taken inside a G27 four segments cobalt setup and inside a G12 ceramic setup. I've also tried some HO magnets and the readings are in the range 450-550. The meter might be out ranged by some Neo traction magnets used in 1/32 scale cars. This is a minor issue and it's not the use that majority of slot car racers give to a magnet matcher. If you need to measure these type of magnets you can put a platic shim  between the probe and the magnet. This will give you a number (not in gauss) to compare the strenght to other similar magnets measured using the same shim. The range is -1999 to 1999 Gauss. You can actually tell the polarity of the magnet. The box external dimensions are 5" long, 2.5" wide and 1" high . The probe is 1/8" x 1/4" and 2 1/2" long. It can be detached from the case for storage. It has an on-off switch and a zero adjust knob. It's powered for a single 9V battery (not provided) which will give you several hours of operation.
