AURORA MODEL MOTORING RACE SET 1961 click image to enlarge click image to enlarge Up for your consideration is a complete HO scale race set from 1961 (date taken from original instruction booklet). It comes with 2 cars in Near Mint condition, they look like they were used very little with minimal wear on the track contacts and VERY CLEAN underneath. There are no Broken tabs on the bodies and just with visual inspection show no signs of ever being taken apart. The cars included are: No. 1541 Jaguar XK140 in Red, right hand drive convertible. No. 1542 Mercedes Benz 300 SL, yellow. There are 8 nine inch straight track sections, including 1 terminal section. 8 curved sections, guardrails, 2 speed controllers, track pins and locks, and transformer. The original box is in fair condition for the age. It does have tape and torn corners. The box has a long list of "As Seen In" magazines which makes me think this is a very early set, these include: Life, Post, Sports Illustrated, Look, New Yorker, Esquiree, Popular Science, Boys Life, Playboy, The New York Times, Better Homees, Sunday News, Junior Scholastic, Hot Rod, Parade, American Modler, Sport, Mechanix Illustrated, Model Railroader, And Seen on TV Jack Paar, and Dave Garroway. Most of the original plastic track container pieces are still in the box as well as the plastic car covers. There is also 7 new tires and 4 new wheels and 2 axles unused included and one other thing I have no idea what it is. (see photos) I have included alot of photos for you to make your own judgement.
